Bina Ruchi Perino
Bina is an undergraduate student, and alumna, at the University of North Texas. She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Studies in August 2018. She returned in January 2019 to complete a Bachelor of Arts in English, Creative Writing. Her writing has been published online and in print, which can be explored on the “poems” page.
She was born in California in 1995. Since 1998, she has been a Texan. The greater Austin area was her stomping ground until she moved to Denton for college. To her, a Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Studies was an easy way to finish a degree on a four-year tuition plan. She explored different ways to utilize her life-long passion: writing. Her mother tells her that after she learned how to read and write, she never stopped. When asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she’d say, “An author and a teacher.” Upon completing her first Bachelor’s and quitting her job at an on-campus marketing office, she realized that the child in her was kicking and screaming.
Outside of poetry and school, she has been graciously waiting tables at a cozy Thai restaurant in Denton for two years. She lives with her little mutt, Maya. In her free time, she likes to read, watch movies, drink wine, journal, take long walks, and spend quality time with friends. She models occasionally for her friend, Aeda Wirth of Illuminaeda Photography. Bina says about herself: “I’m an open wound, my poetry is my bloody mess, and I’m just trying to heal.”
Welcome to her journey of healing.
